Tables and QR codes

Creating them#

Tables are created in the dashboard and carry the name they have in the room: “Table 4”, “Bar”, “Terrace 2”. Each one gets its own code that cannot be guessed.

For the first round there is creating them in bulk under “List & QR codes”: a name and a count, and “Table 1” through “Table 24” appear with one click. Renaming afterwards works one at a time. In the floor plan a single table comes in through the “Table” button.

Floor plan#

The Tables page opens with the floor plan; the switch at the top changes to “List & QR codes”. At the top the rooms are tabs, say Indoor and Terrace. Inside them the tables stand as they do in the restaurant, with the chairs as dots. Everything is measured in squares, one is about 50 cm.

The first time you open it there is a starting point instead of an empty canvas: put your existing tables into a room, split them by name (“Terrace 1” goes onto the terrace), a template such as “Indoor and terrace”, or an empty room. Names, seats and QR codes stay exactly as they are.

On a computer or a tablet you drag a table to its spot. The corners change the size, the dot on top rotates it, and with Shift you select several to align them or spread them evenly. Guide lines show when a table lines up with another; if two tables overlap, they turn red. Undo is Ctrl + Z, and every change saves at once.

Next to it are the details of the selected table: name, seats, shape (square or round), “From guests” for a table you only give out from a certain party size, and “Bookable online”. A table that is not bookable online is drawn dashed on the plan, and only you give it out.

With no table selected, the same place shows the room: name, size and “Guests may choose this room”. If that is off, you give out the tables there yourself only, and they do not count online, for instance in a side room that is only available on request.

Tables that are not in any room yet wait in the tray and still count for reservations. On a phone you set room and seats per table; moving them works on a tablet or a computer. What guests may choose when booking, and how the board shows the plan, is in the chapter “Reservations” under “Floor plan”.

Printing#

The dashboard hands you print-ready cards: with logo, brand colour and a text of your own. Either all tables at once as a sheet, or a single one to reprint when a card has gone missing.

You can set the headline, the subtitle, the extra line, the colour and whether the logo sits in the middle of the QR code. A preview at original size runs along next to it.

The codes stay valid. A freshly printed sheet replaces paper, not addresses.

At the table#

The guest scans with the camera, sees the menu and orders without an app and without signing in. The order shows up in the kitchen with the table name. Ordering more works at any time through the same code.

Whether the table name is shown to the guest as well is a setting. Some restaurants want it (the guest sees they are sitting at the right table), others do not.

Plan#

Table QR belongs to the Pro plan and up, together with the kitchen screen and table ordering. Pickup and delivery carry on in every plan.
